This really is an old valentine!
You know how some people use "leave" in place of "let," like "just leave me be." I guess this is the old-fashioned equivalent of "Let's face it!" "Leave us" instead of lettuce, I mean, "Let us."

Can you imagine the greeting card composer who thought this would sound catchy?
